Huawei, the Chinese company that makes the popular Huawei P9 smartphone, has announced that its Android smartphone software will soon have an app store.
This new feature will be available on the P9, which is available for $549.99 (about £500) from the Chinese carrier.
In addition to the app store, Huawei says that its mobile devices will also include support for the new Google Assistant, and the new “S Health” app, which will allow users to see and track health data.
Huawei’s announcement follows a similar announcement from Google earlier this month, and is just the latest in a series of moves that the Chinese firm has made in the last few months.
Huawei has previously said that it plans to make the P10 and P9 smartphones available in the UK by the end of 2018, and that it would be launching a series to follow.
It’s worth noting that Huawei’s Android smartphone is not the first phone to include an app ecosystem.
In February, the German company announced that it had launched an Android app store called Odeo, which provides a way for people to purchase apps for their smartphones.
Other companies including Samsung and LG have also launched similar apps stores, and Samsung recently launched its own app store for Android.
What’s the difference between Android apps and traditional smartphone apps?
Google’s Android mobile platform is a full-featured operating system, but apps are only available to a limited number of users in some countries.
Developers can add apps to Android by signing up for an Android developer program, which allows them to offer apps to the developer community for free.
Developers will be able to sell their apps for a fee through a third-party app store such as the Appstore, but that service will also need to be enabled on Android devices.
There are currently about 1.5 billion Android phones in use around the world, and Huawei is aiming to expand that number to 2 billion in 2018.
Google is planning to expand Android into the home market, too, by offering a variety of services that will allow consumers to access the Android ecosystem and access other Android apps.
A new version of Google Play will be launching in the US later this year, and a Google Home speaker and remote control device will be launched later this month.
Huawei is expected to announce new smartphone products in the coming months.
